Harris Integrated Solutions Provides Building Automation System For Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center At Riverbanks Zoo And Garden

Columbia, SC – Harris Integrated Solutions is proud to have provided a building automation system for the Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center (ARCC) at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The building management system is part of the Zoo’s effort to create an environment that will allow for the optimal health and well-being of its wildlife, staff, and visitors.

“The new Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center is a major step toward achieving our mission to create meaningful connections, inspire action, and ultimately, make a lasting impact on conservation, not only in South Carolina but across the globe,” says Tommy Stringfellow, president and CEO of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Boyd Foundation, we are making significant strides in phase one of our vision for the future, Bridge to the Wild, which will fundamentally change the way guests experience wildlife and connect with nature at Riverbanks.”

The ARCC is an important addition to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, offering an immersive experience for visitors to get up close and personal with various habitats and ecosystems, such as tropical forests and desert dwellings. Furthermore, it features immersive labs that demonstrate conservation efforts, raise awareness for endangered species, and advocate for the protection of coral colonies.. To ensure that this experience is both safe and enjoyable, the Zoo needed a reliable system to control and monitor temperature and humidity for the facility. The new building automation system is now connected to the existing Automated Logic system supplied by Harris Integrated Solutions, which controls the entire Zoo.

The automation system supplied by Harris Integrated Solutions provides the ARCC with the capability to control, monitor, and adjust temperature, humidity and other environmental parameters in order to maintain optimal conditions for animal comfort and safety as well as staff and visitor well-being. The system will also provide real-time data and analytics to facilitate proactive maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s commitment to providing visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience while also providing its wildlife with the best possible environment is commendable. By choosing Harris Integrated Solutions to supply and program the building automation system, the Zoo is ensuring that its individual habitat automation needs are met and that their wildlife, staff, and visitors will be safe and comfortable for years to come.
